Insights & Inspiration
I have always felt a deep sense of fulfillment when helping others. Whether it was assisting clients navigate complex challenges or mentoring professionals, I found immense satisfaction in making a positive impact. My time in the corporate world, while rewarding in many ways, I wanted to do something more meaningful and make a difference in the world.
Inspired by my experiences and fueled by a desire for change, I decided to embark on a journey of self-discovery. As I transitioned from the corporate world to entrepreneurship, I realized that my journey was more than just a career change; it was a transformation of my identity. I discovered my purpose and passion for helping professionally and personally. This has evolved to a personal brand, so share my knowledge, a tech start up in stealth mode, founding partner of an accelerator that helps other entrepreneurs grow their platforms and my advocacy for Alzheimer’s.
Many ask me how they find their purpose and build a career around it. It begins with a self-discovery process which is iterative.
Discovering Your Passion
Self-Reflection: Take time to understand yourself. What truly excites you? What are your values, interests, and strengths? Explore your hobbies, past experiences, and the things that bring you joy.
Identify Pain Points: Think about problems you've encountered in your life or observed in the world. What issues truly bother you or that you believe need solving?
Explore Your Curiosity: What topics do you find yourself researching or discussing frequently? Are there any subjects that spark your interest and curiosity?
Aligning Your Passion with a Career
Skill Assessment: Identify your transferable skills. These can include technical skills, soft skills, and problem-solving abilities. Consider how these skills can be applied to various career paths.
Research Opportunities: Explore career paths that align with your passion and utilize your skills. Look for industries or roles that offer opportunities to make a positive impact.
Networking: Connect with people in your desired field. Attend industry events, join online communities, or reach out to professionals on LinkedIn. Networking can provide valuable insights and potential opportunities.
Experiment and Iterate: Don't be afraid to try new things. Consider part-time jobs, internships, or freelance projects to explore different career paths and gain experience. Be open to pivoting as needed.
Looking back, I am grateful for the opportunities and experiences I had in the corporate world. They provided me with valuable skills and knowledge that I have been able to apply to my current endeavors. However, it was the journey of self-discovery and the pursuit of my passions that ultimately led me to a career that is both fulfilling and meaningful.
